The Organising Committee of the Biosystems Engineering 2020 conference is delighted to announce that Prof. Fadi Dohnal from Private University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology, Lienz, Austria has agreed to give a keynote speech at the conference. Prof. Fadi Dohnal received his PhD in Dynamics in 2005 from Vienna University of Technology, Austria, and his habilitation in 2012 from Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. He earned a diploma in mechanical engineering as well as in applied physics. He worked in different academic positions all focusing on vibration and wave dynamics at the Nihon University, Japan (earthquake dynamics), University of Southampton, U.K. (structural dynamics), Technical University Darmstadt, Germany (rotordynamics), and as visiting scholar in nonlinear dynamics at Utrecht University, Netherlands, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He worked in the heavy-duty industry and is a certified Principal Engineer in Rotordynamics. His main interest lies in the broad field of nonlinear dynamics (identification, numerical simulation, and experimental implementation) with the deliberate design of nonlinearities for the exploitation in future products in biomedical and industrial engineering.
He organised national and international conferences, minisymposia and training courses. He is a member of the DIN/VDI Standards Committee in Acoustics, Noise Control and Vibration Engineering (NALS) and Austrian Standards, a former member of ASME, GAMM and EUROMECH. Since 2016, Dohnal heads the Division for Mechatronics Lienz at UMIT, Private University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology, Austria.
