RICHARD J GODWIN FREng, Harper
Adams University, UK Richard (Dick) holds Emeritus, Honorary and Visiting Professorship from Cranfield University, Czech University of Life Sciences and Harper Adams University respectively. In this capacity he supervises research programmes and provides academic leadership. This follows a career as a researcher/teacher/trainer in the field of agricultural engineering, soil management and precision agriculture at the former Cranfield University at Silsoe. His contributions have resulted in an improved fundamental understanding of soil - machine systems; the development of improved soil engaging tools and methods, soil and water management, and precision farming techniques. He has spent considerable time transferring the principles to advisors and farmers to improve agricultural production systems, the sustainability of soils, and the improvement of the environment. |
Martin Tunér, Lund University,
Sweden The potential of bio-methanol as a transportation fuel Dr. Martin Tunér holds a position as Associate Professor at the Division of Combustion Engines at Lund University. He has a PhD in Combustion Physics from Lund University (2008) where he co-developed engine combustion simulation software which are commercially available today (DARS & LOGEsoft). His research is mainly experimental and involves high efficiency engine combustion concepts, fuel effects, engine heat transfer, waste heat recovery and combustion modelling. The research is performed in close cooperation with international engine corporations such as Volvo, Scania, Caterpillar, Wärtsilä, Toyota, Cummins, Chevron and BorgWarner. Dr. Tunér is currently supervising 12 PhD students and is associate editor of SAE International Journal of Engines. Dr Tunér is author of more than 60 scientific articles. |

Mikael Forsman, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm County Council, Sweden Ergonomics – key to sustainable workers and organisations Mikael Forsman, Professor of Ergonomics, works at the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet, and at Centre for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Stockholm County Council. Forsman is passionate about health in workplaces! In order to design workstation and interventions it is very important to assess risks for musculoskeletal disorders, and Mikael Forsman has several on-going activities with the common goal to improve the quality of today’s ergonomic risk assessment methods. He has also done research within the field of participatory interventions, i.e. to improve the production together with the workers. Forsman’s area of expertise includes quantification of biomechanical loads on muscles and joints (arising from poor work posture, heavy loads and repetitive |
|
movements), industrial ergonomics, participative ergonomics
and signal processing. Mikael Forsman collaborates with
physiotherapists, physicians and psychologists to quantify work load,
to identify the correlation between load and health (he now investigate
the relationship high-arm work and shoulder disorders), and to, in
collaboration with industrial partners, develop work health
recommendations at both the individual and organisational level. He is,
for example, helping garbage collectors by identifying their true
occupational risk factors – jumping out of the truck may impose a
higher risk for the workers than pulling heavy loads. In addition to his many research activities, Mikael Forsman is contributing to the area of occupational medicine by supporting local work health actors and by teaching and supervising master- and PhD students. |
